Project Description

The 555 Main Street project re-used an existing parcel in downtown Chico which had been vacant for approximately ten years. The project goal was to create a trend-setting, sustainable live/work project consisting of Class “A” office and retail space on the lower three floors, and two high-end residential units on the top level. The building’s exterior design is a modern adaptation of the traditional Spanish Colonial Revival architecture of the original buildings on the California State University, Chico campus some six blocks to the north. The commercial levels of the building utilize extensive daylighting and web based direct digital heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls to make the building as energy efficient as possible. The building is located five blocks from the City’s downtown transit center, which provides occupants an opportunity to use public transportation in commuting to and from work. Secure bicycle storage is also provided for those who wish to commute via bicycle.
