Project Description

This ambitious, complex, highly-visible project was envisioned by City leaders as a symbol of Redding’s civic pride and a vibrant community gathering place. The mandate was for a facility of uncompromised design excellence, within a very restrictive budget ($125 per square foot, in 1998 dollars). The project came in on time and under budget, and has received regional and statewide acclaim. NMR provided comprehensive services including assistance with site selection, site analysis, site and campus master planning, programming, architectural design, interior design, and full construction administration. This program-intensive project greatly improved the City’s operations, improved security, and reduced expenses by consolidating all departments and divisions (except Police) into one convenient, accessible, user-friendly City Hall building. A covered breezeway connects to a separate, state-of-the-art Council Chambers with public seating for 186.
