On May 8, 2015, Nichols, Melburg & Rossetto Architect Melissa Freilich taught Redding kindergarteners at KinderCollege Day about career options in the field of architecture. Melissa shared the importance of building orientation and location, and taught about the functionality of building components like walls, windows, shade devices and solar panels. KinderCollege Day in Redding, CA aims to introduce young students and their parents to a college environment, career options and the concept of higher education.
On May 15th, NMR Administrative Analyst Anya Polen and Architect Jennifer Lees celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Northern Sacramento Valley chapter of Girls Inc. On Friday, May 13th NMR Founding Principal Gene Nichols and Architect Jennifer Lees attended Cal Alumni Association chapter “Northern C’s” dinner at the McConnell Foundation. On Saturday, December 10th four Shasta High School VEX Robotics teams competed against 38 other Bay Area teams at the VEX robotics competition at Vanden High School in Fairfield, CA. On March 15th, ABC aired Season 8, episode 17 of Modern Family, titled “Pig Moon Rising.” The episode featured NMR’s design of the Shasta County Administration Building in downtown Redding, CA. Completed in 2005, the Shasta County Administration project was completed under budget, and has received several design awards, including “Best Civic Project” in 2005 by California Construction Magazine, and the 2005 Woodwork Institute Award for design excellence.
