img_4218On Friday, October 14th NMR joined Otto Construction, The Hamstra Group, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense in celebrating the nearly complete Major General William H. Gourley VA-DOD Outpatient Clinic in Marina, CA in an on-site Dedication Ceremony.

The United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs,  Robert A. McDonald addressed the nearly 400 attendees and dedicated the new, NMR designed outpatient clinic. He was joined by U.S. Representative Sam Farr, the Mayor of Marina, CA Bruce Delgado, VA Palo Alto Health Care System Interim Director, Tony Fitzgerald and members of the Gourley family.

The new outpatient clinic is named in honor of Major General William H. Gourley. Major Gourley’s military career, family and legacy started on the grounds of Fort Ord, California. Gourley dedicated his life to mentoring others, creating opportunities and services for those in need, and working diligently to leave his community better than he found it. He received the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal and was appointed the Honorary Colonel of the Adjunct General’s Corps Regiment.

The facility is the first outpatient clinic of it’s kind in the nation, and will treat active duty service members, veterans and their families. The clinic is equipped to provide primary care, pediatric, specialty ambulatory, eye care, indoor-outdoor physical therapy, audiology, speech pathology, mental health, imaging and laboratory services. The facility will also include conference rooms, group therapy spaces, a large cafeteria with an adjoining outdoor eating space and an easily accessible landscape for patients and staff to enjoy the outdoors.

The 150,000 sq. ft., LEED Gold certified facility creates a site that maximizes healthcare professionals ability to deliver world-class care to patients and their families. The Marina community looks forward to the anticipated opening in early 2017.
