On Wednesday, May 24th NMR Chico Architect Kurt Jorgensen attended the grand opening of Butte County’s Valley View Apartments. Located on Silver Dollar Way in Chico, CA the apartments were developed to house homeless individuals who need mental health treatment. Community organizations collaborated to gather funding for the small village. Community contributors include Butte County Behavioral Health, North Valley Catholic Social Services, City of Chico, North Valley Housing Trust, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Rabobank, Palm Communities and funding from the Mental Health Services Act.

The apartments house 14 formerly homeless individuals with their very own one bedroom apartment. In addition to having a home to call their own, residents also have access to mental health treatment, weekly group sessions and life skills training.
