On Tuesday, October 9th NMR was honored at ENR California’s Best Regional Projects Award ceremony in San Francisco as a winner of ENR’s Best Project Award for VA-DoD Major General William H. Gourley Outpatient Clinic in Marina, CA.
ENR judges reviewed more than a 100 projects throughout California and Hawaii, and evaluated each project team’s ability to overcome challenges, contribute to the industry and community, design quality, as well as safety and construction. Due to the large number of entries only a fraction of submitted projects received awards. See ENR’s award winning project feature of the NMR designed VA Outpatient Clinic here.
Regarding the project, Congressman Sam Farr stated, “The architectural design enhances the community and provides excellent security without sacrificing a warm and inviting healthcare environment.” As the first of its kind in the nation, the Clinic implements LEAN healthcare concepts and innovative approaches to healthcare delivery for patients. The design creates an ideal work flow for staff, respects the coastal environment as a LEED Gold facility, and honors the previous use of land through restored mosaics and murals. NMR Principal Architect and Director of Healthcare, Michael O’Connor attributes success to the project team’s “collective expertise, commitment to the client, flexibility and open communication.”
