The new Major General William H. Gourley VA-DOD Outpatient Clinic is the first of its kind in the nation, and serves active-duty service members, Veterans and their families. The Outpatient Clinic offers a complete range of services including Primary Care, Pediatric, and Specialty Ambulatory clinics, an Eye Care clinic, indoor-outdoor Physical Therapy Suite, Audiology and Speech Pathology Suites, a Mental Health center, imaging and laboratory services. The Clinic also provides conference and group therapy spaces, a large cafeteria with adjoining outdoor eating space, and an accessible landscape for patients and staff. The facility is LEED Gold Certified under the LEED for Healthcare 2009 Edition. The VA Clinic was pivotal in implementing the VA’s patient-centered, team-based model of care for Primary Care services, and is the first to incorporate integrated mental health.
The design for the Clinic focused on maximizing the efficiency of care delivery under the VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model from the ground up to create a site, building and patient experience that together make this facility truly world-class. The Clinic has attracted tours from VA and private sector personnel from across the nation. The facility and the concepts that were developed are being used as a model for subsequent VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
