Project Description

NMR was proud to partner with the Butte-Glenn Community College District to develop sustainable solar parking lot and walkway canopies for the College’s Main Campus in Oroville and solar parking canopies at their Chico Campus. Upon completion of the projects, Butte was nationally recognized as the only educational institution to be awarded the prestigious EPA 2009 Green Power Leadership Award. Butte was also competitively selected as one of three institutions to receive AASHE’s Campus Sustainability Leadership Award.

The Butte Main Campus construction was a three phase project that totaled 170,600 sq. ft. The parking lot solar canopy covered 65,200 sq. ft. of the total square footage. NMR provided construction documents and construction administration for the project including producing demolition, fire life safety, ADA improvements, coordination of consultant documents with new construction site plans, construction site plans, topography plans, section studies and specifications for Division of the State Architect (DSA) approval. During construction administration NMR worked closely with DSA to meet code analysis requirements for solar structures.
