Project Description
Modernization of this seventy-five year old campus presented a wide range of challenges for NMR’s consideration. As a historic building, it was important to maintain the character of the structure while updating it’s functionality. Exterior materials were, therefore, chosen not only for good performance and low maintenance, but also for compatibility with the building’s appearance. The modernization project included clay tile roofing, heating and air conditioning, windows, doors, interior finishes, gymnasium bleachers, theater renovation, new science classrooms,a district office remodel, restroom renovations, electrical and lighting upgrades and data/telecommunications improvements. The final product provided a more comfortable environment for students and teachers as well as greater energy efficiency, and better access to data systems. These school buildings now serve district administrative needs and house University Preparatory Charter School (enrollment 650).
